A man who tried to buy Cialis online has been jailed for two years after being convicted of causing serious damage to his body.
The 28-year-old was found guilty of causing serious damage to his penis and of selling counterfeit medication.
The prosecutor said he had sought the advice of his court-appointed prosecutor who had recommended that he would not be jailed for up to four years but that he had consulted with his lawyer.
The prosecutor told the court that a man was already using Cialis as a treatment for impotence. When he began using the medication, he had taken the drug four times before he had suffered significant damage.
In his statement, Mr Duterte, a former mayor of the capital city of Davao, said: “There are two serious causes of sexual dysfunction that are not worth treating.”
The man said he had been using Cialis since at least September 2017 for a period of four months.
He added: “We have to see if we can get out of this situation because there are people who have to make decisions and if they get arrested for doing it.
“This is the last chance to prove to the court that he was not involved in any crime because he was taking the drug for a long time.”
Mr Duterte, who has previously been convicted of three charges related to an online drug ring, had been in jail for more than four years.
He was jailed for a total of four years and was fined $3,000 for the crime. The government is looking to crack down on those who make such deals and report the matter to the police.
The state prosecutor said that Mr Duterte was under investigation by the government in the wake of a long-running scam that had claimed to be worth more than $4 million.
